Wind Sound Sculpture Erbeskopf
In the middle of Rhineland-Palatinate, between Trier and Kaiserslautern, you will find the Windklangskulptur Erbeskopf. Located in the low mountain range of Hunsrück, it is one of many landmarks with recognition value. The Erbeskopf is the highest mountain of the Hunsrück with its more than 800 m height. From here, the Windklangskulptur Erbeskopf and the summit plateau offer a magnificent view over the countryside. The Erbeskopf and the Windklangskulptur are not only worth a visit in winter, but also in summer an excellent opportunity to spend some time.
We already wanted to make a stop at the Wind Sound Sculpture on our tour of Germany. But had to postpone this due to time constraints. So now we used one of the warmest October days for a little trip to this art object with a practical use. Free parking is available in the immediate vicinity. We arrived here in the late afternoon and there was very little going on. At the same time we arrived just in time for sunset high above.
View and nature
On the left a ski lift and on the right the summer bobsleigh track; in the middle the ski slope, which in the summer months is used as a practice track for downhill biking; families with children and dogs. There are many things to do up on the Erbeskopf. We were content to look out over the scenery below us and enjoy the day coming to an end. It was nice to take a breath and give our eyes a rest from the constant staring at computer screens. A long-range view is something great (not only in the figurative sense).
If you are quiet and close your eyes, you can hear the melody of nature even with a soft breeze. Despite its massive form, the wind sound sculpture fits perfectly into the natural environment. Not least because of its wooden cladding, the sculpture is an eye-catcher and a work of art with a natural benefit for the visitor. As it was for us, who were able to enjoy Sunday as if there were no Monday. With a great trip to a great sight in Rhineland-Palatinate.
